J John Guffy to Peter A Lee 4 July 1864 The State of Texas] Lamar County] Know all men by those (?foremost/foresaid?) that J John Guffy, of the County and State aforesaid in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred dollars Interest bearing 100 Dollars confederate Bills, has this day bargained, sold, released and conveyed and by theses present assigns the following described lot or parcel of land situated in the corporate limits of the Town of Paris herein described and bounded as follows to wit-being a portion of the land Surveyed in the name of Josiah L Purvis. Beginning at the South corner of a two & 2/3 acre lot sold by K.L. (?Fasten/Faden?) to William (?Lemmson/Cemmson?), runs South twenty poles a stake. Thence West 12 poles a stake. Thence North 20 poles, said south boundary line a stake. Thence East 12 poles with line to the place of beginning, containing one and one-half acres of Land to have and to hold all and singular the rights (?members?) Hereditaments and appurtenance to the (?same). belonging to or in any wise incidental or appertaining to (?Premises?) the said P.A. Lee, his heirs and assigns and the said John Guffey hereby bind myself, my heirs and legal representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to him the said P.A. Lee his heirs and assigns, free from the claims of or claims of my and all persons claiming the sums of my part thereof.
