Its approximate location is about 10 or12 miles north of Lampasas, near School Creek. The Ada community began about 1875 and was named after the daughter of William Malony. At one time, the community had a Methodist Church, a district school, a general store, and a Masonic Lodge. The community had a post office from 1878 till 1886. Ada is shown on some early maps of Texas and it is listed in the Handbook of Texas. It is possible that the cemetery known today as the Spivey Cemetery may have been called the Ada Cemetery in the earlier days. According to their obituaries the following were buried at the Ada Cemetery. Perhaps these men are buried in unmarked graves at the Spivey Cemetery. Ada might also have been the Stanley Chaple Cemetery, but this seems less likely.
