The State of Texas to the Sheriff or Other legal officer of said county: Greeting: Whereas, William Sneed of the county of Lampasas and State of Texas, has field his petition in the Clerk’s office of the county of Lampasas and State of Texas against Louisa Sneed whose residence in unknown. In which petition he alleges among other things that he was lawfully married to the said Louisa Sneed, sometime in the 1856. That he well and truly performed all and singular duties of a kind and affectionate husband; that he so continued to live in the bonds of wedlock with the said Louisa up to about the month of October, AD 1857, when the said Louisa disregarding the legal and moral duties of wife, did charge and prosecute your petitioner with an assault and batery, upon the person of her, the said Louisa; that on or about the date above written, the said Louisa for her own wicked purpose did charge and prosecute this petitioner with and for Larceny, and that the said Louisa, other and grevious cruelties and enormities did to petitioner calculated to render him infamous, and whereby, the living with the aforesaid Louisa became unsupportable, and that on or about the 14th day of October A D 1857, the said Louisa disregarding the ties of wedlock life, and contemning her legal duties, did abandon the home and protection of this petitioner, and still continues absent therefrom – Wherefore, petitioner prays that process issue to Louisa Sneed citing her to appear before the District Court of Lampasas county at the next regular term thereof on the 10th Monday after the 2nd Monday in September 1859, to show cause, if any she can, why a decree of divorce should not be rendered desolving the bonds of matrimony between aforesaid William and Louisa Sneed, and then and there to answer this petition of said plaintiff of which this is a brief. These are therefore to command you to summon the aforesaid Louisa Sneed by publication as the law directs in the Lampasas Chronicle, a newspaper published in the county of Lampasas for four consecutive weeks to be and appear before the District Court to be holden in and for the county of Lampasas and State of Texas on the 10th Monday after the 2nd Monday in September, 1859, then and there to answer the petition of said plaintiff, of which the foregoing is brief statement. Herein fail not, but due return make of this writ with your return endorsed thereon, showing how you have executed the same, as the law directs. Witness, Wm. T.
