The children had a special "lunch bag" and broke a pinata, provided and stocked by Anne and Dorothy LaBarbara. The buffet-type lunch was spread on the counter in the kitchen, all filled their plates and went to the assembly hall to visit and eat. Kenneth and Florence Huff, and Landon and Lois, represented the Steve Huff family. Dorcas Baumgartner and Nell Peterson, great-granddaughters of Thomas Huff were here. Frances Tyroff, daughter of L.C. "Lon" Huff came with her daughter Jane Scholwinski, Jane's husband Richard, and granddaughter Lynn. Lon's other surviving "child", David Oakley, while health prevented him from coming, was well represented by Larry Huff and Dorothy, and their families. The Horace "Chuckle" Huff family also was present, Fred coming from San Antonio with his family, and Robert from Luling with his. Walter Huff family, many of whom live in Harwood, had his widow, Iva, and three daughters with their varied descendants. The group decided that this is an appropriate time to meet and plans are made to repeat the reunion next June on Watermelon Thump Saturday -- last Saturday in June. This year Frances celebrated her 90th birthday, Iva her 93rd. Our love to these wonderful ladies. A branch of the Leonard Corder Huff family from the marriage to Martha Ann Chambers has an annual reunion in Flatonia on the first Sunday each June. Their meeting this year for a potluck dinner was well attended and it was a pleasure to visit. Thank you Helen, for the invitation. -- Aurale Huff, June 29, 1997.
