Kornegay State of Texas County of Lavaca Known all men by these present that I Elizabeth Kornegay of the State and County aforesaid do this day constitute and appoint W. F. Upton of the State aforesaid and County of Fayette as my legal and lawful agent to collect any and all money that is due me by the State as pension in accordance with the act of the fifteenth Legislature granting pensions to the surviving widows of soldiers who served in the Texas war in 1835 and 1836 and I do hereby authorize the said W. F. Upton to sign any and all papers necessary to enable me to get said pension money and to received receipt for the same for me. In testimony of which I hereunto sign my name this the 6th day of June 1879. [Signed] Elizabeth Kornegay State of Texas County of Lavaca Before me the undersigned authority this day personally came Elizabeth Kornegay to me well known and party to the above and foregoing power of Atty bearing even date herewith and in my presence signed her name to the same and she acknowledged to me that she had signed the same for all the intents purposes and considerations therein stated.
