They were both born in Lee County, TX. They were married in Lee County on 30 Sep 1933, where they started a family and farmed for a living. It wasn't long before new jobs were being created down along the Gulf Coast in the new petrochemical industry, so they packed up the farm and headed to the coast. Clarence got a job as a painter in the plants, where he fell 30 feet from a pipe rack at Monsanto in 1952 and broke many of the bones in his body. He lived as an invalid for the next 6.5 years, finally dying in 1959. He was brought back "home", and buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
