Clarence and "Sit" were married on 30 Sep 1933 in Lee County. They were hard- working people who scratched out a living by subsistence farming until it got harder to do, and finally moved near the Gulf Coast to Galveston County in 1944. There Clarence found work in the petrochemical plants as a painter. Clarence died in 1959 after a 30 foot fall from a pipe rack at Monsanto in Texas City left him bedridden in 1952. Clara went on to live 62 years in Galveston County surrounded by her children and grandchildren, where she retired from the Clear Creek School District after 19 years working in the cafeteria. Clara passed away on 31 Jul 2006 at the ripe old age of 92. Both are buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
