They were married January 3, 1904 in Lee County, TX. Carrie had been previously married to Bryce Hooper, so her name at the time of marriage to Charlie was Carrie Hooper. Charlie's parents were Peter Christian & Mary Jane (nee Bridges) Jensen. Peter was an immigrant from near Copenhagen, Denmark, arriving in New Orleans first, and finally Galveston, in 1870. He made his way from Galveston up to Lee County, where there was a large contingent of European immigrants at that time. Carrie's parents were McDonald Don Phears & Martha Priscilla Clemons, who were never married, but had three children together out of wedlock. Phears was married to Mattie's older sister, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Clemons. The headstone transcriptions are as follows: CHARLIE A. JENSEN JULY 3, 1884 APR 16, 1976 CARRIE B.
