This is a picture of Matilda Jane Mathis' (nee Joiner) headstone located in 
Lexington Cemetery, Lee County, TX.  Matilda was the daughter of William & 
Sarah (nee Blaylock) Joiner, and the wife of Randolph A. Mathis.  Both the 
Joiner and Mathis families came west to Texas from Mississippi in the early to 
mid 1850's.  I have never determined if they came together, or whether they 
even knew each other back in MS.  Matilda & Ran were married on June 28, 1855 
in Burleson County, TX.  

The inscription on the headstone says:

Matilda Mathis
JUL. 11 1840
FEB. 4 1918
