Holland, do hereby make application to the commissioner of Pensions for a pension to be granted me under the Act passed by the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Texas, and approved March 26, A. D. 1909, on the following grounds: I enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that I did not desert the Confederate service, but during said war I was loyal and true to my duty, and never at any time voluntarily abandoned my post of duty in the said service; that I was honorably discharged or surrendered I surrendered at Kingston, Ga. in the spring of 1865 that I have been a bona fide citizen of this State since prior to January 1, A. D. 1880, and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Texas. I do further state that I do not hold any national, State, city or county office which pays me in salary or fees one hundred and fifty dollars per annum, nor have I am [sic] income from any other employment or other source whatever which amounts top one hundred and fifty dollars per annum, nor do I receive from any other source whatever money or other means of support amounting in value to the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars per annum, nor do I own in my own right, nor does any one hold in trust for my benefit or use, nor does my wife own, nor does any one hold in trust for my wife, estate or property, either real, personal or mixed, either in fee or for life, of the assessed value of over one thousand dollars; nor do I receive any aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, or from any other source, and that I am not an inmate of the Confederate Home, and I do further state that the answers given to the following questions are true: 1. If rejected, state when and where this is my first application 7. What is your occupation, if able to engage in one? Farming 8. In what State was the command in which you served organized? Georgia 9. How long did you serve? Give, if possible, the date of enlistment and discharge Jan.1864 to close of war. 10. What was the letter of your company, number or name of battalion, regiment, or battery? Co “F” 1st Georgia Regiment 11. If transferred from one command to another, give time of transfer, name of command and time of service never transferred 12. What branch of the service did you enlist in---infantry, cavalry, artillery or navy? Infantry 13. If commissioned direct by the President, what was your rank and line of duty? Holland serving in the same company or regiment or special service in which you say the said applicant M. W. Holland enlisted, or if you have stated that said applicant enlisted and served in the navy of the Confederacy, then state whether or not you know any other soldier or sailor of the same name as said M. W. Holland applicant serving in the same command, or the special service to which he was assigned? We have heretofore Known and Now Know M. W. Holland, the applicant for Pension Named To 3d Intgy The witness A M Puckett answers he has Known said M.W. Holland since the year 1862, first Knew him in 1862. He then resided in Bartow County Ga. Near Cartersville Ga. The witness S McGuire answers. He has known M W Holland since about the year 1855 and I first Knew him in the year 1855 and first Knew him at or near Cartersville Bartow County To the 4th Intgy Both witnesses answer, We do Know personally that said M. W. Holland applicant for Pension enlisted in the Confederate Soldier in the Service of the Confederacy, and performed the duties of a soldier To the 5th Intgy Both witnesses answer-We do, said M W Holland enlisted in Company F. First Regiment Georgia State Line, He enlisted at Big Shanty Camp located in Cobb County Georgia in February 1863, and he served until April 1865, when he with the Regiment was Captured by the Federal Army at Gerard Alabama. His service was more than two years To the Sixth Intgy Both witnesses answer, Said M W Holland was not an officer He was a private in said Company F. 1st regt Ga State Line To the 7th Intgy: Both witnesses answer: Said soldier M W Holland was not detailed for any Kind of special Service. He was Not a Conscript Answers to Cross Intgys To the 1st X Intgys. Both witnesses answer respectively A M Puckett answers I was 1st Lieutenant in Company F the Company to which said, M W Holland belonged. and saw him daily in the Service. I Know of No other soldier by name of M W Holland in the same Company or Regiment. I am, and am[sure]there was None The Witness S. McGuire answers-I was Captain “K” for the last six months of__ the war, and prior to that time was a private in Company “K” 1st Regiment_ Georgia State Line, and saw the Soldier M. W. Holland almost daily, if not_every day. I do not & did not Know of any other Soldier by the name of M W Holland in said Regiment and am quite sure there was none and bpth Wit- nesses answer they did not Know of any other Soldier named M W Holland in any branch of the Service or Army To the 2d X Intgy: We are positively Certain that M W Holland, applicantfor Pension, is the identical person serving as testified by us To the 3d X Intgy.
