TX - OBIT: John Fowler Submitted by Anna Penny alp@vvm.com John Fowler- 1910 From the Groesbeck Journal,Dated Feb. 10, 1910 Death of John Fowler At his residence at Pottersville, Limestone Co., Texas, on Tuesday, Feb. 8th 1910 at 7 o'clock a. m. died Mr. John Fowler, in his 63rd year. He is survived by a widow, one son, Mr. F. J. Fowler of Limestone Co., and a daughter, Mrs. J. C. Glass of Winfield, Texas. Mr. Fowler was born in Pittsburg, Pa. on the 31st day of October, 1875 and settled in Limestone County, and resided there until his death. He, on a small scale, commenced to manufacture stone and earthern ware, and for many years has owned an up-to-date pottery and his wares have been sold in all parts of the state. He owned at the time of his death, several fine farms and was successful as a farmer. He was sick for several months with heart disease and while his death was not unexpected a great loss has befallen the community in which he lived. He was, at the time of his death, chairman of the republican executive committee of the sixth congressional district, the 20th senatorial district and the county chairman of Limestone county, Texas. He was postmaster of Thornton from Sept. 1st, 1897, until he resigned in 1900. His remains were interred in the Pottershop Cemetery on the 9th of Feb. 1910, under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias. Funeral services were conducted by Eld.O.R.Rasco.
