R. T. Kennedy died at his residence in the southern part of this city at an early hour this morning. The funeral was held at the family residence at 3:30 p.m. today. Interment was in the City Cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. Capt. Kennedy was born in Green County, Alabama, Jan. 13, 1830, and came to Texas in 1869, settling at Cotton Gin, Freestone County, but moved to Mexia in 1882. He is survived by his widow and three sons.
