Joy Baptist church to the memory of Sister Martha McKenzie, who departed this life August 13, 1926. Her husband, Joddie McKenzie, preceded her in death three years past. Sister McKenzie was converted and served with the Mt. Joy Baptist Church something about forty-five years ago. In the death of Sister McKenzie the church has lost one of its most loyal members. She lived a consistent Christian life and to know her was to love her. Her age was 65 years, 3 months and 10 days. It was hard for relatives and friends to give her up, but God knew best and we humbly bow to his will and say thine will be done. We are looking to the resurrection morning when the dead in Christ shall rise to meet her and so shall we ever be with the Lord. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Geo. Bowen, two brothers, Jno. and Bob Wagerman, eight children, Mrs. Nola Shields, Mrs. Laura Martin, Mrs. Abe (Phene) Goodrich, Mrs. Sadie Roloff, Henry, John, Louie, and Callie McKenzie, besides a number of grandchildren and other relatives and fiends to mourn her loss. On Sunday evening her remains were conveyed to the McKenzie Cemetery and there placed in their last resting place to await the pleasure of the Almighty God when she shall be raised, not as she once was, but in the likeness of Him who died and rose again for the dead shall be raised and this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality. So, when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then that shall be brought to pass the saying that is written death is swallowed up in victory. O grave, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God, Which giveth us the victor through our Lord Jesus Christ. To the many friends who visited the bereaved children in her last hours and all along, they desire to extend their heartfelt thanks and to invoke down on them all the blessings and guidance of the great giver of every good and perfect gift. They also desire the prayers of all of God's children that He may be with them to comfort and strengthen them in this sad hour. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Brother A.B. Pair. Be it resolved that a copy of this be preserved by the church and one forwarded to the family. MRS. DAISY CALDWELL
