VINSON Buried in Armour Cemetery Wednesday Afternoon Funeral services for G. L. VINSON, long-time resident of this community was held here Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. W. F. Smith assisted by Rev. R. B. Stanton, conducted the services. Internment followed in the Armour Cemetery. Mr. VINSON had only been sick a short while and his death came as a distinct shock to his many friends here and elsewhere. Several days ago he was carried to a Mexia hospital for treatment and everything possible was done to relieve his suffering but medical science could bring him no aid and he awakened the final call on Tuesday, August 6th. Deceased was born in Tennessee on November 14, 1868. On December 11, 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Eva LEDBETTER and to this union nine children were born, who with his widow survive. The children are Mrs. Ben DAVIS (note--My grandmother)and W.A. Vinson, Coriscana; Arthur Vinson, Santa Anna; Marcus Vinson, Aubrey Vinson, Mrs. Connie BUNCH, Mrs. Ellis KAY, Mrs. Emmons KAY, and Mrs. Tom HARRIS, all of Coolidge. Other immediate survivors include his father, W. M. Vinson, 92 years of age; and uncle H. C. Vinson; three half-brothers, Hyram Vinson, Dayton, Ohio; Elijah Vinson, Gladewater; J. I. Vinson, Coolidge; two half-sisters, Mrs. C. H. ADAMS and Mrs. Tom SUTTLE, this community. Eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. McElroy Funeral Home has charge of burial arrangements.
