Bishop was born Aug. 25, 1811 in TN. He had a farm in San Saba, TX near the Llano County line. He died May 14, 1878 and is buried at the Bluffton Cemetery, Lot 29, grave 1. He was a Blacksmith by trade. His sons Richard Bishop, Benjamin Bishop and John Henry Bishop lived near him. His daughter, Lavicia Bishop married James Knox Polk Arant of northern Llano Co. John Henry Bishop came into Indian Territory about 1889 and Richard followed in 1900. John Henry Bishop died 1900 and is buried beside his Mother, Jane, wife of Emily. Jane died 1889. They are buried at Foster Cemetery, Garvin Co. OK. Richard died 1936 at Carter Co. Ardmore, OK.
