Uncle Dan was taken very severly Thursday evening 25th with a stroke of Peralicis & I probably shall not be able to leave for some time. We had Doc Fowler with him today & he spoke rather unfavorably of the case. I was to go back to Mr. Hendrick's Monday or Tuesday & we were all going to the valley to have our pictures taken. If you should see Jim or Nan you may tell them not to expect me if they should mention it. This leaves me quite well at present but I am feeling very sleepy. I have not had one night's sleep this week. The young people are having quite a lot of fun it seems over last night. I could hear them most all night dancing & tonight I cant hear them but they are dancing not half a mile away. I guess after tonight we will have plenty of help, hoping to see you soon I beg to remain Your devoted Friend Andrew P.S. If yu wish to answer this, address to Castell and oblige. Castell, Texas Friday Jan. 9th 1891 Miss Maggie Vest Affectionate Friend As I find this blotted paper I don't know where to find more without waking some of the sleepers up, I shall have to use it. I received your Note a few days since & was glad to hear that you were well. This leaves all except Uncle who is yet very low. He don't seem to get any better. I dont think he will ever get up any more. I have been sleeping in the first part of the night & feel like I was most asleep yet an if I make many mistakes you may know the cause. I was sorry to learn you had no singing Sunday I just wonder how you all amused yourselves. If I knew who were your partners I could tell better. Yours with much esteem Andrew Allsup P.S. I forgot to tell you Uncle would like to have you all come over if you can. He talks a great deal about you when he is delirious. But the weather is so bad I shant look for you. Castell Texas April 1 1891 Miss Maggie Dear Girl I again attempt to write you a few lines in answer to yours of the 24. I believe it was. Well, Miss Maggie, we have put poor Uncle Dan away. His suffering has ended. No more struggling for breath nor fevered brow. No parched lips or bitter cry. He is released from his prison of suffering at last. He died Sunday evning the 22 of March & we layed him to rest on Monday. I had not way to let you know about the burying. I hope your Papa is better now. You must tell me when you are to have preaching or some kind of gathering. I want to see you verry much but I shall have to stay over here untill we get Uncle's grave walled in and fixed up. We have been at work on it this week but we are not done. We have to wait to finish untill the rock mason comes back from Llano. Excuse me for this time. I have written in a hurry but I hope you can read it, so farewell From yur true Friend Andrew Allsup Andrew Allsup and Maggie Vest were married 26 July 1894 in Llano County, Texas. ======================================================================================
