     As the town of Llano awakened last Saturday morning to fulfill the promise 
of a bright summer day and to take up its duties and tasks anew there spread 
among her people sad news which gave an atmosphere of quiet and serious thought 
to the activities of the day.

     This news was that of the death of Mrs. Thomas Jefferson Moore, a true 
brave pioneer woman whom all of Llano knew , respected and loved. Her departure 
came at the close of several weeks illness during which time she was confined 
to her bed, where she received every attention from those who loved her and 
especially from the hand of Miss Edna J. Moore , her faithful and tenderly 
devoted daughter. Throughout this recent illness as through her life , she was 
ever cheerful , thoughtful of others and deeply grateful. In this kind of 
spirit she passed sweetly and gently into the fuller life , where surely this 
prayer was fulfilled for her:

" And when on earth my work is done, 

And my new work in heaven begun, 

May I forget the crown I have won,

While thinking still of others."

     The service in honor of her memory was held at the Christian Church Sunday 
afternoon at four o'clock in the presence of a large number of relatives and a 
great assembly of friends. After the processional was softly played by Mrs. 
A.G.Mueller, the choir sang softly her favorite song "Sweet Peace, the Gift of 
Gods Love". During the solemn service three other songs were sung subdued and 
low as in prayer. They were " Rock of Ages" Abide with Me" and "It is Well With 
My Soul". As the congregation left the church the music of the last song was 
lifted up and borne to all in the sweet and comforting refrain "It is Well With 
My Soul". Rev. W. A. Todd of the Baptist Church, and Rev. J.H. Meredith of the 
Methodist church offered prayers of consolation. Rev. S.E.Wilken of the 
Christian church, the church of Mrs. Moore's choice, read the obituary" A 
Tribute to a Beautiful Flower". After which he prayed. Rev. Wilkin also 
delivered the sermon of comfort and profit, not only to the bereaved ones, but 
to all present. Indeed sorrowing relatives and friends; low, prayerful music 
:many rare and beautiful flowers, and also words of truth, benediction and 
condolence paid homage to her life and memory.

     The active pall bearers were: Dr. G.I.Gray. Messrs. H.C. Buttery, Pius L. 
Barker, F.H. Kothman, Arthur Deats and Orville Buttery. 

     Those acting as honorary pall bearers were: Messrs. A.F. Moss, J.D. 
Slator, Sr., W. J Everett, Sr., S. H. Buchanan, J. A. Cone, J. C. Cone, T. W. 
Norton, T. J. Hallford, J. W. Williams and Prof. F. M. Berns.

     Now Llano feels the loss of one who in her quiet and unassuming way, meant 
so much to all who knew and loved her, but she has left the memory of her good, 
true character which will be both a blessing and an inspiration to all who 
reflect upon it. Her influence will live on and on for she herself lived so 
well.

     Mrs. Moore was a Christian and as such achieved true greatness. she 
possessed, therefore, the Christian virtues of love, joy, peace, long 
suffering, gentleness, goodness and faith. Her life was the triumphant life. 

     The Christian character was strongly illustrated in her love and loyalty 
to her husband and daughter. She was a faithful and devoted wife and a loving 
mother, she was not merely a mother to Miss Edna J. her only child but also her 
friend, companion, counselor and inspiration. Within social relationships of 
family circle she always proved this sterling worth and unselfishness. Her life 
was surely filled with "little nameless unremembered acts of kindness and of 
love". These little deeds were not confined to her family only, but to her 
friends and all who came into her life from time to time. The Impression of all 
who knew her was that of a refined, cultured woman, who loved the beautiful, 
pure and good, in her own modest way she lived for others and therefore " her 
own works praised her into the gates".

     A friend who has meet Mrs. Moore often in the home, in a social way and in 
business matters asks the writer to insert here in this  his life  to her.          
 
" Many noble traits of character can be and have been credited to Mrs. Moore. 
To them let me add this: I have seen her frequently in her home when she was 
ill and also when members of her family were ill; have seen her when she was 
dealing with business matters of large and perplexing nature and under many 
other conditions and have observed that she, at all times exhibited a quiet and 
serene poise of mind and temper, and that with a pleasing smile and a 
countenance indexing a noble generous and Christian character, she meet and 
dealt with every problem in her life that confronted her with a spirit and 
temper of an ideal nature and type.

     Another friend who knew Mrs. Moore intimately in the home adds the 
following. " In a few words of appreciation of this beautiful character, I 
think of her as the embodiment of Christian kindness. In the little daily 
routine of her life the greatness of the soul was revealed to us in the life 
she lived, not for herself, but always for others. she possessed and 
understanding heart, that loved all living things and appreciation almost to 
reverence for nature. I will always love to think of her as the sweetest of 
flowers that grew, and blosomed in a garden.
