Tate, whose passing was recorded in the News during the past week, Llano county lost one of it's most loyal citizens. Despite the fact that for the last 20 years he has been a resident of Marble Falls, in Burnet county. Mr. Tate always claimed citizenship in Llano county, and before he became too enfeebled by the passage of time, always returned to this county to vote. Mr. Tate was born, March 2, 1857, in Llano county near Long Mountain. He was the son of S.W. & Martha Tate, pioneer settlers of this section. Later the family moved to near Sandy Mountain, where he was laid to rest in the family cemetery. In 1881 he united in marriage with Miss Cynthia Ann Hardin, of Llano county. Surviving this union are four sons, Elmo Tate, of Fairfax, Oklahoma, Herbert and Sam of Llano county, and Norman, of Berkeley, California. He is survived also by two brothers, H.L. Tate of Pearsall, and R.L. Tate of Llano, and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Phillips and Mrs. W.H. Roberts, both of Llano. Mr. Tate had been a member of the Methodist church for approximately 30 years.
