The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************* Oldest Llano County Resident Dies Mrs. Sinia Vest, nee Cates, oldest resident of Llano County and well-known and loved throughout its confines, died last Friday morning at her residence in Valley Springs at the age of 97 years. Mrs. Vest was born in the state of Missouri, and came to Texas and Burnet County at the age of five. She moved to Llano County in 1882, and has resided near Valley Springs ever since that year. She became a member of the Methodist Church at the age of eleven. In spite of her advanced age, Mrs. Vest retained full use of her faculties to to the end, retained a most excellant memory and a capacity for the enjoyment of life to the utmost. She was loved and is mourned by many. Funeral Services were held at Valley Springs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rev. White of San Saba, assisted by Rev. Heacock of Llano, officiating. Interment was in the family cemetery at Valley Springs. Mrs. Vest is survived by eight of ten children born to her: Mrs. Maggie Allsup of Junction, Mrs. Nan Hedricks of George West; Mrs. Mattie Reagor; H. L. and R. A. Vest of Llano, and Misses Lucy and Lucinda Vest of Valley Springs. =====================================================================================
