Henry Jenkins was a cowboy who was staying at the Nicolet Hotel, was taken ill
and died on March 10, 1892.  He was the first person to be buried in the City of
Lubbock Cemetery.  He was about 32 years old.  The tombstone pictured here is a
replacement of the original.  His grave can be found in the southeast corner of
block 8, at the intersection of Iris and Hibiscus Streets.
