She died January 18 in Clute, Texas. Funeral services were held on January 19, 1968 at the J.M. Day Funeral Home. Rev. G. Wayland Elmore officiated and Mrs. John Dean Carter played the organ. Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Clothilde Reynolds and sons Thurston Harper and Paul Harper, her brother Judge Joe Webb and a great grandson Loyd Harper. She was preceded in death by her son Webb Harper in 1937. Her husband Judge Carl T. Harper died in 1931. Mrs. Harper was a secretary for the Food Administration Department of the United States. She also tended to the sick in Madisonville during an influenza epidemic. Additional Comments: Mrs. Harper's first name was most likely Virginia but she went by Jennie. She was married to Carl T. Harper on Sept. 26, 1900 by J.R. McAdams. They had four children. Carl T. Harper was shot to death in 1931. Mrs. Harper was tried in the Madison County court for his murder and the judge ruled it was self defense.
