Dick Turner, a bartender in M K & T Saloon on Lafayette street, was
shot and killed by Walter Frances Wednesday afternoon.  Turner lived
only a short while. The only witness to the shooting was the negro porter.
Frances was placed under arrest. Turner was the brother-in-law to Mr.
Newell, proprietor of the saloon. The remains were taken to Gilmer
Thursday for burial. He leaves a wife and two children. (Later added)
Frances was placed under a $5000. bond to wait action of grand jury.
