All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. H. C. Willis Wife of Pastor, Dies At Home May 27, 1940 Mrs. H. C. Willis died Monday night at 7:20 o'clock at her home following a illness of six weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Methodist Church of which her husband, Rev. Willis, is pastor. Burial was at a Jefferson cemetery. Mrs. Willis was born Florence Morrison near Navasota. She was a daughter of the late Judge Gwyn Morrison, a San Jacinto veteran and first Judge of Montgomery District under the Republic of Texas. She has lived here for about 18 months. She and Rev. Willis were the parents of three children, one of whom survives. One died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. George Call, died recently. Mrs. Willis was a devout Christian and have been a loyal member of the Methodist Church since childhood. Pallbearers were members of the Board of Stewards of the local Methodist Church. They were W. O. Irvin, William Connor, J. F. Irvin Jr., J. P. Kenna, W. A. Hooton, J. G. Dalby, J. B. Williams, A. D. Lilley, W. T. Connor, F. N. Moore, and Leon Moore. Surviving are her husbandl one son William Hubert Willis of Houston; a grandson, George Hubert Call of Jefferson; a sister, Mrs. Emmie White of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
