Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton with Van Pendergrass officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 20 at the funeral home. He was born Oct. 28, 1935 in Stanton. He had worked as a chef at various nursing homes in West Texas and was a volunteer at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. He was a member of Downtown Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sisters, Yvonne Hrbacek of Odessa and Loneta Crocker of Fort Worth; one brother, Edward Avery of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
