James L. Billingsley, 74, of Big Spring died at 9:00 AM Friday, November 12,
2004, at the Big Spring Veterans Administration Medical Center, following a
sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rev.
Joel Miller, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00
PM Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

He was born October 28, 1930, in Sparenburg, Dawson County, Texas, to Jess L.
Billingsley and Edith Russell Billingsley. He married Tommie Smith on June 8,
1951, in Ackerly. He was a lifetime resident of Dawson, Martin and Howard
counties. Mr. Billingsley served 6 years on the Grady ISD school board, on the
Board of Martin County Hospital, and farmed for forty years, retiring in 1990.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea. He was a member of
the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife: Tommie Billingsley of Big Spring; 1 daughter:
Jaynie Gamble and her husband Michel of Colorado City; 2 sons: Jay Billingsley
of Abilene, and Michael Billingsley and his wife Sandra of Boerne; 2 brothers:
Ed Billingsley and his wife Nancy of Ackerly, and Robert Billingsley and his
wife Freeda of San Angelo; 1 sister: Madeline Mickelson of San Angelo; 4
grandchildren: Mandy Gamble of Colorado City, Logan Gamble of San Angelo, and
Abby Billingsley and Caleb Billingsley, both of Boerne; 2 great grandchildren:
Hannah Hobdy and Jetly Hobdy; and a number of nieces, nephews, and several
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Dianne
Billingsley in 1970, and 1 brother: Larry Billingsley.
