Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton with Van Pedergrass officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 20, 2003, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton. She was born on Feb. 24, 1903, in Denton County, Texas, and married Ottie Cain on Sept. 11, 1920, in Denton County, Texas. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1972. She was born to John and Minnie Haynie. Effie and Ottie lived most of their married life in Midland County and later she moved to Stanton in 1972. Mrs. Cain lived in Stanton until March 2002 when she moved to the Yellow Rose Christian Home in Midland. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Maxine Kelly and husband Owen of Stanton, Texas, Oleta Flowers and husband Earl of Daingerfield, Texas, and Deloris Boyer and husband Carey of Denton, Texas; one daughter-in-law; Glennie Cain of Stanton, Texas; one sister, Ruth Harrell of Borger, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Herman Cain; a daughter, Ruby Calhoun; a son-in-law, E.W. Calhoun; and four brothers and five sisters. Pallbearers will be Butch Cain, Harold Cain, Bobby Kelly, Roy Kelly, Terry Kelly, Ron Calhoun, Michael Calhoun, David Flowers, Eugene Flowers and Gary Howard. Memorials are suggested to the Home Hospice of Midland, 901 W. Missouri Ave., Midland, TX 79701. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
