All rights reserved http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Name: Velma Fay Clements, 90 Died: September 17, 2004, in Irving, Texas Velma Fay Nichols Clements, 90, of Irving formerly of Stanton, died on Friday, September 17, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 20, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Stanton with Rev. Daniel Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stanton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Velma was born on July 16, 1914, in Taylor County, Texas, the daughter of Arilla and J.R. Nichols and twin of Elma Ray Nichols. She moved to Courtney in Martin County in 1916 and attended school at Courtney and Stanton. In 1935 she married Bill W. Clements of Courtney, and they had two sons, Billy Ray, and Larry. In 1950 the family moved to Franklin, Texas, where Bill and Velma lived until 1991, when they retired and moved to Irving. Velma was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Stanton and the Franklin and Plymouth Park Methodist Church in Irving. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew and loved her. Her family and friends were her greatest joy, and her memory will live in our hearts forever. Survivors include her husband, Bill Clements of Irving; her sons, Billy Clements and Larry Clements and her two grandsons, Michael and Christopher all of the Dallas area; her brother and sister-in-law, Oran and Juanita Nichols of Midland; her sister & brother-in-law, Ona and Harrison Bickley of Stanton and many dear nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Barbara Jan, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Nichols an infant sister, Clara, an infant brother, Clyde, a sister, Opal Jones- Cook, and two brothers, Clarence and her twin brother, Elma "Pop" Nichols. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Irving Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 153705, Irving, Texas 75015-9942.
