Comments by Rev. Joe Brumbelow at the funeral: “I’ve known Calvin nearly 60 years. The Westbrooks were our neighbors. Our dads worked together. Calvin and I grew up together. We went to school together. We went to church together. We did a few other things together that were not so nice; like terrorizing our school teachers. Aggravating Mr. Reiner…I’ve not been around Calvin in many years…The most important thing I could say about him at a time like this is that he knew Jesus Christ as his Savior.” Brother Joe went on to tell what the Bible teaches about the comfort only God can give, and how to know you are going to Heaven. Some of the Scripture he quoted: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Romans 10:9,10,13; The Bible For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain…For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. - Philippians 1:21,23; The Bible Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” -John 11:25, The Bible A book about Rev. Brumbelow was published in 2005: The Wit and Wisdom of Pastor Joe Brumbelow, hannibalbooks.com.
