Laughter-North Funeral Home which had charge of local arrangements, took the body to Wilkerson Funeral Home in Brady. Mr. Underwood, 57, was Abilene's seventh traffic fatality of 1960. He was struck by a car driven by Willie Trice Gilmore, 60. City Policeman Lloyd Skiles worked the case. Mr. Underwood, a bootmaker is the uncle of Jimmy Underwood, who is owner of a chain of barbeque restaurants in Abilene and West Texas. The traffice victim died Monday in Abilene. Survivors: 1 son - Elvin of Garland; 6 daughters - Mrs. Henry Grupsmith of Dallas, Mrs. Charles Bumgardner of Casper, WY, Mrs. Charles C. Smith of Hobbs, NM, Miss Patricia Underwood of Midland, Billie Sue Underwood and Jerrie Underwood, both of San Angelo; number of grandchildren, 21 brothers and sisters.
