He lost not only his house but all of his contents except one or two beds and one bedstead. The fire was the result of accident, no one being in the house at the time it occured. The house was built about twenty years ago, the lumber being hauled here on wagons. It cost at that time $3,000.00, but could now be erected for one-third of the money. Mr. McCann did not have a cent of insurance. He is one of the settlers on the land now in dispute between Williams and Conger and has certainly seen his share of trouble. The old gentleman and his wife, in very easy circumstances before the war, have not lost courage the least by their reverses and we hope to see them in a new home again soon.
