Tuck HARDIN, JAMES M. - The Waco Statesman gives an account of a difficulty which took place on the 10th ult., in McClennan county, 18 miles southwest of Waco, between Joseph W. Hardin, formerly of this place ,and James M. Hardin, his brother-in law, and we believe, his cousin, which resulted in the almost instant death of James M. Hardin, Joseph shooting him in the left breast with one barrel of his gun, and lower down with the other. Joseph H. Hardin surrendered himself to the proper authorities, and after investigation was discharged upon the ground of having acted in self-defense. Galveston Weekly News Aug. 12, 1856
