MEEKER The funeral of Mrs. S.F. Meeker of Elk, 55 years old, who died Wednesday evening at 6, in a local sanitarium, will take place at Elk Thursday afternoon at 3. The body will be taken to Elk in Compton's motor hearse. Mrs. Meeker had been ill for some time. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, W.F. Davis Lee Davis, and Miss Sarah Meeker all of Elk. WACO TIMES HERALD APRIL 3, 1925 FRIDAY BURIAL J. S. BURDINE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 4 J. S. Burdine died Thursday afternoon at his home 705 Preston street. He had been ill for some time. Mr. Burdine was 55 years old. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the family residence , with Rev. O.O. Odom pastor of the Wesley Methodist church officiating, interment to be made in Oakwood. Pallbearers are: W. D. Bradley, W. E. Darden, Billie Wade, S. H. Sinsher, C. M. Goodwin and G.H Davidson. For the last 15 years Mr. Burdine had been a resident of Waco. He was known to and beloved by many friends and acquaintances. Besides his wife, Mr. Burdine is survived by three sons, Jessie Burdine of Dallas and Ed and Otis L. Burdine of LaMesa; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar Britton and Mrs. S.B. Davidson of Waco, and Mrs. Foster of Abilene; one sister, Mrs. A. Hall of Rochester, Texas; and five brothers, S. A. Burdine of Hedly, W.C. Burdine of Melrose, N.M.; L.F. Burdine and C.B. Burdine of Rochester, Texas, and G. C. Burdine of Cortalles, N.M. DEATH CLAIMS AGED VETERAN CONFEDERACY J. M. Douglass Dies, Eleven Days before His 91st Birthday Death claimed another veteran of the Southern Confederacy with the passing 7:30 Thursday night of J.M. Douglass, 90 years old. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. F. Sonntag, 1624 North Fourth street. Though in ill health for some time, Mr. Douglass became seriously sick only Thursday morning. The funeral will take place this Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the First Baptist Church, with the pastor, Dr. J.M. Dawson, officiating, interment to be made in Oakwood. Active pallbearers are: R.E. Mailander, Fred A. Mailander, S.B. Carlson, G.A. McDade, Bert Perry, and Jim Foregard. Honorary: Dr. J.T. Harrington, G.A. O'Brien, C.O. Forsgard, Arthur Denning, Will Sinclair, Will Lockwood, employees of the Mailander company and members of Pat Cleburne camp. Born in Georgia, Mr. Douglass had been a resident of Waco for the last 35 years. For 25 years he was in the employ of the Mailander company. Had he lived until April 24, Mr. Douglas would have been 91 years old. During the Civil War Mr. Douglas served with gallantry and distinction in the Confederate Army. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for the greater portion of his life, and he was a most sincere and exemplary Christian. In Waco he was universally beloved and esteemed. Surviving him are three daughters and one son, Mrs. A.F. Sonntag and Mrs. E.F. Hahn, Waco; Mrs. Susie McDaniel and R.E. Douglass, Dallas. He also has one sister and one brother, Mrs. Emily White, Jacksonville, Fla., and Ed Douglass, Atlanta, Ga. FALLS COUNTY MAN DIES SUDDENLY WHILE AT WORK Marlin, Texas--Dan Fischer, aged 61 years, died suddenly while repairing a small bridge in front of his home three miles north of Marlin. Death was attributed to heart failure. Mr. Fischer had resided in this section nearly forty-five years. Surviving are his wife and six children, Walter Fischer, Paul Fischer, Miss Felicia Fischer, Freeie Fischer, Lydia Fischer, and Raymond Fischer, all residing in Marlin. The funeral was held Thursday morning, with services at the family residence, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Cotton of Riesel. WACO TIMES HERALD APRIL 04, 1925 SATURDAY DEATH SATURDAY OF MRS. TENA CONCILIO Mrs. Tena Concilio, 39 years old, living at 2006 Alexander, died today shortly before noon, in a local sanitarium. She had been ill for some time. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed. Mrs. Concilio was born and reared here, and she was beloved by many friends and acquaintances. Besides her husband, Charles Concilio, she is survived by five children, her father, Paul Ground, Waco; four sisters, Mrs. Chris Kememdo and Mrs. Willie Concilio, Waco; Mrs. Frank Calcaterra, Fort Worth. PERSONAL MENTION Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Schowe, 2111 Gorman Avenue, who were called to Ballinger, on account of the death of their father, A. Schowe, returned home yesterday. WACO TIMES HERALD APRIL 5, 1925 SUNDAY ACCIDENT NEAR WACO IS FATAL Injuries received about 6:20 last night, when an auto he was driving turned over on the Corsicana road, a mile and a half east of Waco, resulted in the death about 10 minutes later of Algono Aloman, about 50 years old. He died soon after he was brought to Colgin's hospital in Puckett's ambulance. Another Mexican in the car when the accident occurred, Demetro Gomez, was seriously hurt and his injuries may prove fatal. Aloman's skull was fractured. At the time the car turned over Aloman, who lives near Bellmead, was coming to town for members of his family. Gomez was also taken to Colgin's hospital. The body of Aloman was taken in charge by the Puckett Undertaking company, and the funeral will likely take place some time today. He is survived by his wife and several children. BURIAL MRS. W.T. Turner, pastor of the Brook Avenue Baptist church and Rev. J.J. Grier, pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be made in Park Lawn. Active pallbearers are: Tony Niessia, M. Lesavio, A.S. McCullom, E.T. Smith, M. Mistretta and N. Disce. WACO TIMES HERALD APRIL 6, 1925 MONDAY A.G. YORK OF MEXIA DIED HERE MONDAY MORNING A. G. York, 25, of Mexia, a brother of Miss Amy York of Waco, died at 12:30 Monday morning in a local sanitarium after a short illness. Burial will be in Houston in the Masonic cemetery there, Mr. York being a member of the George N. Denton lodge. Compton will ship the body from Waco. Surviving Mr. York are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sybil York; one brother, Dan; a sister, Miss Tany, all of Houston; and Miss Amy York of Waco, county nurse here. MRS. W.M. WRIGHT DIES AT HOME HERE SUNDAY MORNING Mrs. W.M. Wright, 40, 801 East Clay avenue, died at 10:15 Sunday morning at her home, after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the residence with Rev. C.A. Alms officiating, interment in Park Lawn cemetery. Surviving her are her husband, three daughters, Misses Freda, Thelma and Geinic, Waco; one son, W.M. Jr., Waco; one brother, J.J. MANDY DICKERSON DIED TUESDAY AFTERNOON Mrs. Mandy Dickerson, aged 47, died in a local sanitarium at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening, after a short illness. Surviving Mrs. Dickerson are her husband, V.G. Dickerson of Waco; two daughters, Mrs. Claud Patterson and Mrs. L.C. George, Waco; four sisters, Mrs. A.H. Stoors, West; Mrs. G.W. Pilley, Lorena; Mrs. Gertrude Holmes, Houston; Mrs. Ella Griffin, Hillside; and three brothers, Joe Harwell, Waco; Henry Harwell, Haskell and William Harwell, Coleman. Funeral arrangements are not yet completed, awaiting advice from relatives. The body is being held at Compton's. BURIAL MRS. DICKERSON THURSDAY AFTERNOON With Rev. W.O. Wright officiating, the funeral of Mrs. Mandy Dickerson, who died Tuesday night, will take place Thursday afternoon at 3:30 services to be conducted at 1916 South Twelfth street. Interment will be made in Rosemound.
