The word flew over our town as on the wings of wind. Wherever it touched it left sorrow and the expressions of sympathy for the bereaved ones were many and from the heart. Winston met his death from accidental discharge from a 38 automatic pistol Monday night. As it was given to us we give it to you. He was in town until around 9:30 o'clock, Monday night and went home. After sitting around with the family for an hour or more he retired to his room. It was only a few minutes afterwards that the family heard a pistol shot. They rushed to his room and found him in a standing position the pistol having fallen to the floor. It is supposed that he must have been handling the gun, for he said, "I did not know the gun was loaded. He was rushed to the Temple sanitarium and upon examination it was found that the bullet had entered the left breast tearing away part of the lung. Everything that medical science could do was brought into practice but it failed, and death came Tuesday night at 8 o'clock. The remains were brought back home early Wednesday morning in the Lee ambulance. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Fairchild conducting the services after which the remains were conveyed in the Lee motor hearse to its last resting place in the Moody cemetery in the family's old burial ground. Winston was 27 years of age. He had a bright happy and cheerful disposition and carried sunshine with him wherever he went. He had always a smile and a pleasant word for his friends and his death comes as a dark shadow to his friends and to his relatives who loved him so dearly. He is survived by his father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. D. M. Jordan: two brothers: Wendall Jordan of Commerce. Dr. D.J. Jordan who at present is located in Panama; three sisters, Mrs. D. Jernett of Commerce, Mrs Neal Graham of Waco and Mrs. Guy W. Draper of Oglesby. NOTE: Grandson of Mary Grimes and Daniel Jones. Born May 18, 1901 - Death 1928 He was the youngest child.
