A. Ransom is Dead Special to the News Tribune Corsicana, Texas Dec 31 -- W. A. Ransom, age 68, a highly respected citizen of Corsicana for 40 years, died at his home here last night. He was ill only a short while and his death came as a shock to his many friends. The deceased has held many positions of trust and honor in this county, having been county clerk for several years. Mr. Ransom is survived by a wife and nine children, six girls and three boys, and by one brother who lives in San Antonio. This is the first death in the immediate family circle, despite the large number of children. ------------------------------------------------------------ Waco New Tribune Sunday Jan 1 1922 Bryan Mourns Death of Mrs. J. S. Mooring Special to the News Tribune Bryan, Texas, Dec 31 --- In the passing of Mrs. J. Seth Mooring, whose death occurred at the family home in this city Thursday, Bryan is indeed bereved, and sorrow is in every heart. A woman of culture of mind, and at the same time a leader in social and church circles, Mrs Mooring, when in her usual health took an active part in the life of this city. For many months she has been quite ill, and although all that medical skill and tender nursing could do was done it was to no avail and death relieved the sufferer on the date above stated. Mrs. J. Seth Mooring was before her marriage to Mr. Mooring of this city, Miss Julia Ward of Marlin, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ward, pioneer citizens of Falls county. In 1899 she was married to Mr. Mooring, and came to make her home in Bryan, where she has lived continuously ever since. One son, Ward Mooring, and her husband J. Seth Mooring, survive her. Also two brothers, Dr. Burr Ward of Marlin and John Ward of California. The funeral was conducted at the family home on Friday afternoon at 8:30 o'colck by Rev S. Moyland Bird, rector of St. Andrews Episcopal church of which she was a consistent member, and interment was made in the Bryan City cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Times Waco News Tribune Tuesday Jan 3 1922 HIGHSMITH FUNERAL HELD IN GATESVILLE Sam Highsimth, who died Sunday morning at Harrison Switch, was sent Monday morning at 11 o'clock to Gatesville by Undertaker F. R. C. McCullough of Prairie Hill was preaching at the Baptist church Sunday morning his 15 month old son, Worth McCullough, found a bottle of carbolic acid, spilled the contents over his body and died yesterday morning in a Waco sanitariumat 1:45 o'clock. The body of the child was sent to Prarie Hill yesterday morning by Undertaker L. C. Puckett and the funeral will be held at 12 o'clock noon today at that place. M. WILSON SHIPPED TO ROGERS The body of R. M. Wilson, 1130 North Thirteenth street, was sent Monday morning by Undertaker F. M. Compton to Rogers in Bell county. Funeral services were held at Rogers during the afternoon and interment was in the cemetery there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Waco News Tribune Wednesday Jan 4 1922 CARLTON WOMAN DIES AT SANITARIUM HERE Mrs Millie Fisher of Carlton, Texas died Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at a local sanitarium. She is survived by her husband F. E. Fisher, two daughters and one son, all of Carlton, Mrs. Fisher came to Texas 30 years ago from Alabama. J. SMITHERMAN IS BURIED AT ROSENTHAL Funeral sevices of A. J. Smitherman took place yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Rosenthatl, where the body was taken in the motor hearse of F. M. Compton. Services were conducted at the Rosenthal church with Rev. Mr. Moore officiating Mr. Smitherman died Sunday at Burkburnett. He formerly was a resident of Waco, but left here several years ago, R. L. and Dewey Smitherman, two sons, reside in Waco. Mrs Beulah Brown died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 at the residence of her mother, Mrs M. A. Trice, at 717 North Tenth street. Funeral services will be held at the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the fresidence, conducted by Rev. Robert E. Goodrich, interment to be at Oakwood cemetery. Mrs Brown is survived by her mother, Mrs. Trice: by one son, Owen B. Brown of Los Angeles, Cal : a brother. Dr Will Trice of Elk, and by one sister, Mrs. William Deers of New York. E. Fetzer, Native of M'Lennan, Passes Away J. E. Fetzer, 52, a native of McLennan county and prominent citizen of Lorena, died last night about 9:30 at the home of his son, Thos. P. Fetzer, who lives at 1622 North Sixth street. Mr. Fetzer came to Waco last Monday having been summoned on the special venire to select a jury to try the negro murder cases that have been in progress here this week. Mr. Fetzer took ill late Monday night and was soon stricken with pneumonia and after a turn for the worse yesterday, died last night. His is survived by five sons in addition to the one mentioned, these being Enoch, Press, Price, Robert and Coke. He also leaves a wife and two daughters, Mrs Fannie Bowman and Miss sibil. All fo the survivors reside in this county. The body will be carried to China springs this morning by the Compton Undertaking company, where funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock, interment following. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Waco News Tribune Tuesday Jan 24, 1922 Prof. Morehead Dies At 9 P. M. Monday VOICE INSTRUCTOR WAS SON OF GOVERNOR Professor Albert Hodges Morehead, 70, well known Waco voice teacher, died last night at 9 o'clock at the Baptist saniarium after an illness of several days. Mr. Moorehead came to Waco about two years ago from Kentucky and took a position as vioce instructor in the arts department of Baylor. For the last four months he had been giving private lessons, having vocal classes at Waco and Hillsboro. He had been director of the choir at St. John's Methodist church since coming to Waco. Mr Morehead was born in the gubernatorial mansion at Frankfort Ky. His father James Turner Morehead, being governor of the state at the time. Governor Morehead afterward served his state as United States senator. Mr. Morehead is survived by his wife and two sons, James T. and Alfred H., both of Lexington, Ky. Funeral services will be held from Compton's funeral home this afternoon at 3:30 adn the Elks will be in charge. Rev. W. M. Rader will officiate. Pallbearers will be announced this morning ------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr and Mrs. Long have lived in Waco for nearly 40 years, are widley known, and have won the friendship and esteem of hundreds. Mrs Long's friends speak of her a gentle, kind and thoughtful, remark at her life as one of service for others. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the residence, conducted by Rabbi Wolfe Macht, interment to be at Hebrew Rest. Levinsky, Mose Hirshfelder, Tom Davidson. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Waco Times Tribune Wednesday Jan 25 1922 Former Balor Boy Is Killed in Accident MERVIN BIRD, NEPHEW OF GEROGE BIRD, DEAD mervin Bird, nephew of George Bird of Waco was accidentally killed at Fort davis, Texas acording to a telegram recieved yesterday by George Bird. The young man, just 20 years old, was a student at Baylor university in 1920. He was the son of Charles H. Bird, who has an irrigated orchard and farm at Fort Kavis.
