OBITS Waco Times Herald Tuesday, July 28, 1925 CRAWFORD MAN FOUND DEAD IN LOCAL HOTEL Paul K. Manske, about 58 years old, was found dead on the floor of his room on the second floor of a hotel at Mary and Third Streets at about 6 o^Òclock Tuesday morning. Mack Hyder, the Negro porter on duty, found his body. The body was viewed by Justice J. J. Padgett, who announced his verdict Tuesday afternoon as follows: ^Ódeath resulted from poison, either accidental or with suicidal intent.^Ô Mr. Manske^Òs home was in Crawford. He had been living in McLennan County about 40 years. He had been staying at the hotel where his death occurred since last fall. Surviving Mr. Manske are his wife and four sons: Walter and Herbert Manske, Crawford; and Otto A. and Gerhard Manske, who were students at the State University. Mr. Manske also has two brothers and one sister, Will Manske, Clifton; Ernest Manske, Sagerton; Mrs. Paul Hrbacek, Apache, Okla. Waco Times Herald Monday, July 27, 1925 DEATH SUDDEN SUNDAY FOR MRS. EDITH EHLER Death came suddenly Sunday morning at 10 o^Òclock to Mrs. Edith Ehler, 42 years old, who died at her home, 521 South Eleventh street. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o^Òclock, services to be Conducted in Compton^Òs funeral home, with Rev. O. T. Hatfield, pastor of the Nazarene church, officiating. Interment to be made at Park Lawn. Surviving Mrs. Ehler are her husband, John Ehler, and three children, Harry Ehler, Inex and Willie Adeline Ehler. Waco Times Herald Monday, July 27, 1925 REV. L. W. DUKE IS CALLED TO HIS REWARD The noted Baptist divine, Rev. L. W. Duke, passed away early Sunday morning at his home, 2310 Reuter. The Rev. Duke was 82 years old. Death followed a stroke of paralysis, with which he became afflicted on Wednesday of last week. The funeral took place Monday morning at 9:30, from the Turner Street Baptist Church with the Pastor R. E. Bass, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. W. Melton of the Seventh and James Street Baptist Church. Interment was made in Park Lawn. Active pallbearers are: H. R. Haney, C. A. Nabors, George E. Wallace, Professor W. H. Pool, N. B. McKinney and T. W. Tatum. Honorary pallbearers were members of Pat Cleburne camp, and A. J. Sligh, R. A. Mathers, G. C. Swain, C. C. Menefee, J. A. Stanford, F. W. Kellner, W. B. Pearson, J. J. Carter of Franklin, C. K. Durham, C. L. Watson, L. B. Smith, Eugene Wyche, Asher Sanger, H. D. Reynolds, C. E. Lyons, W. W. Sloan, W. H. Pittman, J. B. Mc Cauley. Born in Alabama, Rev. Duke served in the Confederate army for four years as a member of the Fifth Alabama regiment. He was a mason for 52 years, his membership being in the Tyler Lodge. He was a member of Pat Cleburne camp. For 57 years Rev. Duke had been a Baptist preacher, 42 years of that period having been spent In Texas. He held pastorates in Swan, Reagan, Calvert, Hopewell Lexington, Mexia and other places. Surviving Rev. Duke are his wife and four sons and four daughters, W. B. Duke, McAlister, Okla., E. L. Duke, Waco; M. E. Duke, Beaumont; B. P. Duke, Akron, Ohio; Mesdames John Holland, Tyler; A. B. Marchbanks, Brenham; J., D. Barlow, Jacksonville; and Miss Sudie Duke, Lexington. He also had one brother, J. H. Duke, Reagan. Waco Times Herald Tuesday, July 21, 1925 MARGARET NUNNALLY DIES 12:30 NOON TUESDAY Margaret Nunnally, 10 years old, daughter of Mrs. Jessie Ryan, 519 North Fifth Street, died Tuesday at 12:30 noon in a local sanitarium. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 4 o^Òclock from the family residence with Rev. W. P. Witsell, rector of St. Paul^Òs Episcopal church, officiating, interment to be made in Park Lawn. Besides her mother, the little girl is survived by one sister and a brother. Waco Times Herald Monday, Juy 27, 1925 DEATH EARLY MONDAY OF MRS. RUBY HOWELL Mrs. Ruby Howell, 18 years old, died Monday morning at 1:30 in a local sanitarium. She lived at 1401 South Twelfth street and her death followed a brief illness. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 5 o^Òclock, services to be conducted at 1025 South Fifteenth street, with interment in Park Lawn. Rev. M. W. Clark, pastor of the Clay Street Methodist church, will officiate. Besides her husband, A. M. Howell, she is survived by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. V. T. Simpson, Eddy, and three sisters, Miss Inez Simpson, Bruceville; Mrs. Cora Shaw and Mrs. Vera Tramer, both of Waco. Waco Times Herald Sunday, July 26, 1925 FUNERAL TODAY AT 5 P.M. OF MRS. OZELIA McCHAREN The funeral of Mrs. Ozelia McCharen, 21 years old, who died in Raymondville, Texas, last Thursday night, will take place this afternoon at 5 o^Òclock from the home of her Mother, Mrs., Lee Davis, 1621 South Seventh street. Rev. W. W. Melton, pastor of the Seventh and James Street Baptist church, will officiate, and interment will be made in Oakwood. Active pallbearers are: Earle Garrett, M. T. Presnali, W. L. Trice, W. H. Pool, T. J. Logue and Prof. J. W. Harrell. The honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Seventh and James street Baptist church, with E. W. Huff of Raymondville, J. R. Collier and Sam Allen. Surviving Mrs. McCharen are her husband, Rayford McCharen; her mother, Mrs. Lee Davis, and two sisters, Misses Mildred and Carra Lee Davis, all of Waco. Waco Times Herald Sunday, July 25, 1925 Mrs. Mary Frances Tubb, aged 72, died Saturday night at 10:15 at her home, 401 Columbus acenue, after a long illness. Mrs Tubb had been a resident of Waco for the past 29 years and was well known here. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o^Òclock from the Church of The Nazarene with Rev. O. T. Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in Park Lawn. Surviving her are her husband, F. M. Tubb; two sons, J. B. Tubb of New Orleans and B. E. Tubb of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. H. J. Waco Times Herald Saturday, July 25, 1925 POST CITY WOMAN DIES DAUGHTER^ÒS HOME HERE Mrs. Rebecca Jane Alsup, 85 years old, died yesterday afternoon at the home of Her daughter, Mrs. Ada Sears, 522 South Third street. She had been ill for some Time. The body was taken to Iredell in Puckett^Òs motor hearse, and the funeral took place this morning. Mrs. Alsup, who was a native of Tennessee, had been ill for some time. Her home was in Post City, and she was visiting her daughter here at the time of her death. She had been a resident of Texas for about 28 years. Besides the daughter here, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Bennie Ashcraft and Mrs. Lily Everett, Post City; Mrs. Martha Ashcraft, Goodlet, Texas, and two sons, Jack Alsup, Goodlet; B. W. Alsup, Plainview. She also has one brother, W. H. Wilson, who lives in Tennessee. Waco Times Herald Tuesday, July 21, 1925 APOPLEXY FATAL MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR W. A. ALEXANDER Apoplexy, which became evident last Saturday, resulted in the death, Monday afternoon at 5:15 of W. A. Alexander, well known Confederate veteran. Mr. Alexander, who was 77 years old, died at his home on the Robinson road a few miles south of Waco. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 5, from the Austin Avenue Methodist Church, with the pastor, Dr. C. H. Booth, officiating. Interment will be made in Oakwood. Active pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Alexander, as follows: L. E. Alexander, Cam Alexander, Harry Alexander, A. B. Alexander, R. B. Alexander, Jr.,m P. E. Alexander, Jr,. and Wm. Davis. Born in Louisiana, Mr. Alexander had been a resident of Texas since 1852, with the exception of the time he spent in the Confederate Army. The family located in Austin 73 years ago, and Mr. Alexander had been a resident of Waco since 1894. Mr. Alexander was a sincere and devout Christian, having been affiliated with the Methodist church since 1869. He was a member of Pal Cleburne camp and of Waco lodge of Masons. Mr. Alexander is survived by five sones, W. E. Alexander, Marlin; R. E., R. B., B. F., and J. T. Alexander, Waco; one daughter, Mrs. R. L, Davis, Belton; a sister, Mrs. E. J. Gurley, Bryan, and one brother, N. J. Alexander, Austin.
