Kimbriel James R.(Cotton) Kimbriel,76, of 4001 Old Mill Road died Monday in a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Waco Memorial Park, the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Mr. Kimbriel was born on April 28, 1913 in Nevada, Collin County, but moved to McKinney as a youngster. He attended Baylor University on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1939, the same year he married Dee Armour of Yoakum. Mr Kimbriel coached football at Midland and Kermit and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He moved to Waco in 1947 and was associated with the W.A. Holt Sporting Goods Co. In 1972, he became a partner in Cen Tex Sports of Waco and Temple. Mr Kimbriel was a longtime member of the Frank Wilson Sunday school class at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 92. He was past president of the Ex-Letterman's Association at Baylor University. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Ann) Secrest of Temple, and Mrs. Jim (Judy) Odom of Mandeville, LA, and four grandchildren. The family will be at 4001 Old Mill Road after 4 p.m. today. Family members have designated the individual's favorite charity for memorials. Wilkerson-Hatch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
