The 1876 cornerstone has the names of William B. Trice, the chairman of the building committee, and W. C. Dodson, the architect. The church was located at Fifth and Jackson. The cornerstone was relocated to the narthex of the new First Methodist Church at 4901 Cobbs Drive.
