Medina Co., TX - Cemeteries - St. Dominic’s Cemetery *********************************************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Turner Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenwebarchives.org *********************************************** St. Dominic’s Cemetery D’Hanis, Medina, Texas Directions: Head west on Hwy 90 about 10 miles west of Hondo, Texas and 12 miles east of Sabinal, Texas; there will be a white sign with black letters on the side of the road which reads “St. Dominic’s, Holy Cross, WOW Cemeteries” and an arrow denoting a left turn. Follow the road and the first cemetery you come to will be St. Dominic’s on the left. The church, which burned down circa 1910, is next to the cemetery and there is an iron fence surrounding the cemetery. There are several historical markers denoting the history of D’Hanis and the church on the same lot. (The other D’Hanis cemeteries are straight down this county road and to the left after you round the curve. Very few of these roads are named or have signs.) Notes: The number to the left of the names is the position of the graves in the row from left to right. You will notice some of the numbers are used twice, this denotes the same marker. I have included some description of the markers that are present and the wording in quotation marks are on the headstones. I have also noted possible wrong information in brackets. The names in parenthesis are maiden names.
