"A" of 8th Texas Calvery (Terry's Rangers) under Gen. Nathan B. Forrest in the Confederate army from Sept 1864 until the end of the war, is entitled to a Land Grant from the State of Texas enacted by an Act of April 9, 1881 for 1,280 acres of land. (1) citizen of Texas (2)" R.H. McCann was permanetely disabled so as to seriously impair his ability to perform bodily labor or earn a living for himself and family." (3) does not own property valued at $1,000.00. agreeded to by Commissioners ; M.G. Rainey, Willis King, Co. Judge, P.B. Gilliland, Ed Y. Tersal. ~ witnessed by F.M. Blankenship ~ W.D. Paden CCMC. ~ W.B. Wortham, State Treasurer. Additional Comments: Note: there is no record that this Land Voucher was ever cashed in for land. As in many cases- most were sold for as little as $5.00 or up to as much as $250.00 ~ those used were probably used in the unsettled lands in West Texas because most of the East & South Texas land was taken.
