Milam county Additional Comments: Rapperd parish (hard to read) is actually Rapides parish, Louisiana where McNelly's Company of Scouts was camped after participating in action at Mansfield, Brashear city and Pleasant hill(?). Walker served in this company with his brother Tom Perkins. Tom and Walker transferred over to this newly formed company in Galveston on Feb. 1, 1864. I don't have the original (a relative does). My copy is not good. Of course this is L.H. McNelly the famous Texas Ranger. Walker did not have a high opinion of him. He thought he was arrogant. There is an extension on the back so that he appears to have been on leave 3-4 months.
