Hall from the New York Independent. Rev. J. M. Wesson, age 82, oldest member of the Texas Methodist Conference recently married at Conroe, Grimes Co. to Bettie Collins. J. R. Keith, farmer, of McGregor, McLennan Co. went down into a well he was digging and soon after a blast occurred and the was taken out dead. Little Willie Causley of Fairlie, Hunt Co. tried to swing on a car and was thrown under the wheels and his right leg was crushed and soon after died. Article suggests diversifying the crops of Milam Co. by growing fruits and vegetables. Gov. Culberson has appointed Robert B. Green of San Antonio as District Judge in place of Noonan who was elected to Congress. Hon. Olin Wellborn, once a member of Congress from Texas is now a Federal Judge in California having been appointed by Pres. Cleveland. Ex-Gov. Hogg will live in Austin having formed a law partnership with Judge James H. Robertson who resigned as a District Judge. Contract for building the City Hall at Rockdale has been awarded to R. G. Scott of San Antonio. Sen. Horace Chilton has appointed E. M. Street, Jr. as his private secretary. Attorney General, M. M. Crane and Judge George Clark are in Washington. Ex-Attorney General A. H. Garland is representing Texas in the Greer Co. case. There is talk of a military company for Cameron. Grandma Hood is convalescent from a severe attack of the measles. Mr. & Mrs. T. H. Moore had a 10 pound baby boy this week. John C. Oxenford had a severe attack of pneumonia. Dr. R. C. Wallis, County Health Physician, was over from Rockdale in reference to quarantine matters. T. A. Eggleston's restaurant, canned goods and confectioneries. Geo. F. Williams a newspaper man from Ida Grove, IA, is engaged in collecting data for a special edition of the Cameron Herald. Mrs. Webster is selling bread at the Old Banister Bldg. near the First National Bank El Sabad, Grand Turkish Vaskah, has been solicited to present a series of entertain-ments in Cameron. The pupils of Myrl Arnold will give a recital at the Opera House on Friday, Mar. 15th. Walter McGregor at Brenham stood for examination for license to practice law. He was examined before District Judge, Ed. R. Sinks. Dr. D. C. Jones has moved from Waco to Cameron and has formed a partnership with Dr. Lyd Smith. For Sale: Two good work mules by J. D. Hefley. August Aamold, Norwegian violinist, appeared at the Opera House. There were vocal solos by Mrs. T. S. Henderson and Mrs. F. M. Crawford. Mary Lutner, little daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W. L. Lutner, died at the family residence. She was not 2-years of age and was a bright child. The remains were interred in the City Cemetery on Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Mayor Lewis called an extra session of City Council owing to the quarantine situation and small-pox. Graves of Rockdale visited Mr. & Mrs. Geo. S. Graves. J. B. Baldridge is assessing taxes in this precinct. Miss Duncan will leave her post at the school. Letter to the Editor from W. G. Fields, President of the Milam Co. Farmers' Institute. Texas State News: J. H. Robertson, Judge, 53rd District of Travis Co. resigned and entered into a law partnership with ex-Gov. J. S. Hogg. The Sims negro woman, who was assaulted at Huntsville, died. Edgar Parker, son of S. Parker was accidentally shot at the house of Mrs. Candor 5-miles south of Greenville, Hunt Co. Edgar was staying all night with Nat Condor. In the morning, they scuffled over a pistol and it went off fatally wounding Parker. Some hoodlums stretched a rope with yellow flags around the residence of J. O. Frank of Taylor. Jack Wade of Haskell Co., half demented man living with A. B. Carrothers died while walking home in a heavy snow storm. Article: Not Too Bad -- Hon. Joseph D. Sayers, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee has submitted as statement about the 53rd Congress. Hon. E. L. Anthony is being urged for an Indian Territory Federal Judgeship. Sometime ago, Alf Miers killed Constable Riley Burnett in Dallas Co. He was tried by the District Court and given 25-years in the penitentiary. The case was reversed by the Court of Criminal Appeals on the grounds that a man has a right to kill an officer who attempts to make an arrest without a warrant, and the case was formally dismissed. From the Brenham Banner: Walter McGregor of Wichita Falls and J. J. Cain of Burton presented themselves before Judge Sinks to be examined for license to practice law. The court appointed the following Judges to examine the students: Ben S. Rogers, J. D. Campbell and W. W. Searcy. After examination, they recommended both be granted a license to practice. Carr, Indian Depredation Claim Agent entertained during the holidays at his residence in San Antonio. Guests included his sister whom he had not seen in 28-years, she is the wife of Rev. J. D. Hooker of Milano. Carr says another reunion will take place in San Antonio on his 62nd birthday on July 26, 1895. Jenkins has been sentenced to 18-months imprisonment by the Federal Court at Austin for passing counterfeit money in Hays Co. Gov. Culberson has called an election in the 1st Representative District to fill the vacancy cause by the death of R. D. Harrell of Bowie Co. Tommy Townsend, 8-years old, son of N. Townsend of Texarkana found and exploded a railroad torpedo with an ax. The explosion tore out his right eye. While coupling passenger cars at LaPorte, John C. Eads, a brakeman had his collar bone broken and suffered internal injuries. There was an attempt to set fire to the offices of the Evening Advocate in Paris. Wm. Graham, colored laborer was seriously injured at the I. & G. N. Shop at Palestine when a boiler being unloaded fell on him. Two masked men robbed, hot and killed Mrs. Stendt, a German lady at her residence in Sweet Home. A. Jones of Angelton, Brazoria Co. got caught between the wheel and belt of his gen and received severed injuries. An I. & G. N. passenger train ran into an open switch at Dickinson, Galveston Co. killing Jimmy Taylor, the fireman and badly scalding John Killeen, the engineer. Goodnight Loses His Life by Being Run Over by a Car - On Friday of last week [Mar. 15] before 3 o'clock, Harry A. Goodnight, 34, unmarried brakeman on the Mission Route was killed. He was assisting in the yard, his foot hung and he fell across the track. The car ran over both legs. About 9-hours, Dr. T. A. Pope, assisted by Dr. O'Bryan of Yoakum, amputated both limbs. He died 14-hours after the operation. A telegram was sent to his parents in Sedalia, MO. They arrived after his death and they took the remains home with them for interment. City Council Proceedings -- Mr. Jeter has a proposition pending before the council to swap a portion of his lumber yard for a street unused extending from his office east to the Santa Fe right-of-way. The body of Jim Sullivan, section hand on the Midland was found near Kaufman with his skull crushed and his left arm torn from his body. Chede Craft, Seth Wade and Geo. Herring were arrested in Luling for highway robbery committed in Gonzales Co. Charley Barrington shot J. V. Carter in the hip over a fence line dispute near Dawson, Navarro Co. The 3-year old daughter of G. Mosses of Oakville, Live Oak Co. was playing with matches and set her clothes on fire, and died. The Texas Immigrant and Railroader is a new monthly paper being issued in Houston by Col. Tom M. Bower. Pony Day, Mr. Strickland and Mr. Edwards were captured north of San Saba on a charge of robbing the Santa Fe at Meridian, Bosque Co. Mollie Ketcherside, daughter of Dr. Ketcherside of Mineral Wells, went to her father's saddle-bags and took what she supposed to be morphine for a severe headaches, but which proved to be poison. She died. L. M. Coate and Bud Wilson at Coraicana were riding in a buggy on the way to a fire when they collided with a Tom Dickey on a horse. Wilson was hurt and Dickey was probably fatally hurt. The jury in the case of Lavidia Caffey v. James L. Autey and Frank S. Kerr, trustees of the Odd Fellows Orphans' Home have returned a verdict for the plaintiff. The suit leveled 220 acres of land will by Mr. Caffey, who died last year to the Odd Fellow Orphans' Home at Corsicana. The suit was to break Mr. Coffey's will and was successful. Will Shely of Nueces Co. and Live Oak Co. was sentenced to 5-years in prison from Oakville for perjury. Maj. Moses Austin Bryan, 77 years & 6 months died at the home of his son, Judge B. Bryan of Brenham. Cadet Henry P. Jorday of the Agricultural and Mechanical College from Beaumont has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy. Brakeman McMahan an employee of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad was found dead on Saturday last [Mar 23] on the track between Whitesboro and Tioga with his head crushed. He was unmarried and leaves a mother at Albany, NY. The school house belonging to Prof. J. M. McLeod of Greenville, Hunt Co. was partially burned. On Sunday last [Mar. 24], 5 young men were boating on Buffalo Bayou near the foot of Main St in Houston and had an accident which resulted in the drowning of John R.
