The Rev. Frank B. Mangum, retired, officiated at his funeral Feb. 3 and burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. Dossett was born Aug. 20, 1927 to Walter Brown and Alethea Sleeper Dossett. He served his country both in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and later in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He received his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 where he was a Silver Spur and a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He served on the Waco City Council and was the City's Mayor pro tem during the 1970s. Dossett was a vestry member and Senior Warden at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and served as president of both the United Way of Waco and the Waco Public Library board of Director. He is the former president of Central Texas Compress Company and for the last 35 years served as president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Royal Seating Ltd. of Cameron. he was an officer and director of Exporters and Traders Compress and Warehouse Company, chairman of the Brazos Masonry Corporation Board of Directors and a principal of Iron Horse Iron Works. He served as a director of the First National Bank of Waco, was a director of Texas Life Insurance company and is former president of the National Cotton Warehouse Association. He was an active member of the Waco Philosophers Club and served as president of both Ridgewood Country Club and the Waco Sailing Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jane Dossett Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Mary Martha Dickie; sisters, Laura Dossett Smith and husband Cullen of Waco, Frances Dossett Swann and husband Tommy of Tyler; sons, Reeder Walter Dossett and wife Dr. Jenny Moody of Valley Mills and Markham Brown Dossett and wife Susan Stevener Dossett of Waco; daughters, Susan Groetzinger of Waco, Martha Beckham Dossett and partner Nancy Barbour of Houston, and Pauline Whittle and husband Jeff of Dallas; and grandchildren Katharine Groetzinger, Walter S. Dossett, Markham W. Dossett, Erin L. Whittle, John C. Whittle and Andrew D. Whittle. The Dossett family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
