Fowler, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 in the Sharp Cemetery in Sharp. He died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 in the Hospice Austin's Christopher House in Austin. Mr. Fowler, an Austin resident, was born Jan. 12, 1929 in Joppa, Alabama to Luther Fowler and Alice (Yother) Fowler and grew up in Alabama. He and Faye Garner of Sharp were married Aug. 10, 1951 in Dallas. Mr. Fowler served three years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for L&A Mill in Austin and served for a time as a steward of the local carpenters' union. He coached his sons and many others in Little League, Pony League and Colt League baseball at least 20 years at Delwood Optimist, Walnut Creek Optimist and University Hills Optimist. He was made a UHO Hall of Fame designee. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Beamon Fowler and M.L. Fowler; sister, Wynona Finley. Surviving are: Wife, Faye Fowler of Austin; five sons, Freddie Fowler and Floyd Fowler both of Austin, Frankie Fowler and wife Suzy of Lampasas, Farley Fowler and wife Sherri of Gunter and Faron Fowler and wife Kathy of Pflugerville; daughter, Karen Cummins of Austin; sister, Juanita Ellis of Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Scott Fowler, Trenon Fowler, Tanner Fowler, Gary Mitchell, Alan Mitchell and Bret Garner.
