All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/tx/txfiles.htm ************************************************ NEWMAN, Frank Jr. Oct 9, 2001 Frank "Pa" Newman Jr., 79, of Thorndale died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Celebration of Life services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor Vernon Appel and Pastor Robert Beicke officiating. Burial followed at Detmold Cemetery. Mr. Newman was born July 23, 1922 in Taylor to Frank and Lena (Voight) Newman. On May 7, 1940, he married Pearl Melde at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Newman retired as a potroom foreman for Alcoa, after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale and a life member of the Thorndale VFW Post #4009. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rita Jane Becker; a son-in-law, Leon Barron and two sisters, Nannie Simank and Edna Hilton. Surviving are: His wife of 61 years, Pearl of Thorndale; daughter, Judy Brown of Thorndale; sisters, Margie Olbrich and Frances Hilton of Thorndale and Nora Pasemann of Thrall; grandchildren, Jeff Barron and wife, Cheryl of Taylor, Marla Roepke and Chris Davis of Thorndale, Randa Becker of Belgium and Russell Becker of Austin; great grandchildren, Kassie and Mallory Barron of Pasadena, Jacob Barron of Taylor and Hiatt Becker of Austin. Pallbearers were James Lee Hilton, Frankie Hilton, Charles Olbrich, Harvey Simank, Bob Hegar and Max Thiele. Honorary pallbearers were members of Thorndale VFW Post #4009.
