Robertson, 66, of Rockdale, will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 29, 2003 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Winfred Tyler, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Rockdale, He died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at St. David Medical Center, Austin. Mr. Robertson was born Aug. 11, 1937 in New Baden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1954 to 1961 and a retired supervisor of the Alcoa aluminum plant in Rockdale. Surviving are: Wife, Freddie L. Robertson of Rockdale; five sons, John Jr., Jermaine and Rev. Willie Phillips Sr., all of Rockdale, and Dwight and Anthony of Fort Worth; four daughters, Angela and Amber of Rockdale and Dionne and Danita of Fort Worth; nine granddaughters; four brothers, Retired Sgt. Major Andrew Robertson of Killeen, Charles Embra of Rockdale and retired Sgt. Major Freddie Brown and Ray Brown, both of Round Rock; six sisters, Doris Phillips of Rockdale, Bertha Nell Minter of North Carolina, Katherine Norwood of Germany and Mary Frances Walker, Joyce Irvin and Sylvia Hatten, all of Corsicana; one God son, Richard Henderson of Rockdale, and one God daughter, "Tinker" Morris of Houston. Mr. Robertson received the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Citizen Award in March of 2000, in recognition of his leadership on many civic fronts, including East-Side Tutoring which he founded to help community youth. He was a member of the Original Twelve service club, the Alcoa Retirees Club, and New Hope Baptist Church.
