The seller was the President of the Vicksburg, Shreveport and Texas Railroad Company, William Wadley. The sale took place in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. The purchasers were James Henderson of Davis County and Walker P. Perkins of Milam County, Texas. The slaves were identified as "Little Sam" 27 years old, "Lovie" (sp?) 31 years old, "Edmund White" 26 years old and "unreadable" 47 years old. The sale price was $7,500 dollars. The sale was dated June 22, 1863. Walker Perkins must have strongly believed in the Confederate cause to still be buying slaves in 1863. This scan is of a copy, I don't know who has the original.
