Alexander State of California County of Los Angeles Personally appeared before me this the ___ day of October A.D. 1874, Franklin H. Alexander a resident of the County of Los Angeles in the State of California who first being duly sworn deposes and says: That his name if Franklin H. Alexander, that he was born in Murray County State of Tennessee U.S.A. on the 25th day of November 1818 and immigrated to the State of Texas in December 1839. That he served the State of Texas as a volunteer in the year of 1842 in the company commanded by Captain Strain that formed part of what was called the Santa Fe Expedition, that he served in said company in said expedition and was taken prisoner at Santa Fe while in the service and accompanying said Santa Fe Expedition. That affiant immigrated to the State of California in the year 1852 and has resided in the County of Los Angeles of said State ever since and that his is the same person upon whose behalf the accompanying affidavits of Nelson Williamson and J.D. LaRue are made. Affiant further states that his said ____ belonged and formed just of the regiment commanded by JMS Cook. Affiant further states that he was taken as a prisoner to the AZ or Mexico by the Mexican troops commanded by Army and discharged out of prison July 1843. Franklin H. Gould Deputy ********************************** State of California County of Los Angeles Personally appeared before me one J.D. Larue a resident of Los Angeles County State of California who being duly sworn said. My name is J. D. Larue. I was in Austin Texas in A.D. 1842 when a company commanded by one Captain Strain was setting out for the Santa Fe Expedition. I then and there became acquainted with one Franklin H. Alexander a member of said Company. I never saw said Alexander again until about the year 1865 when in the county of Los Angeles State of California I met a man who in conversation with me claimed acquaintance and to be the said Franklin H. Alexander and so convinced me by relating circumstances only known to said Franklin H. Alexander and myself although from the lapse of years I was unable to recognize his personal appearance. The said person so claiming to be and believe by myself to be Franklin H. Alexander of the Santa Fe Expedition is now a resident of said Los Angeles County and on this behalf I make this sworn statement. J.D.
