1909-Jun 3-Bennett Reuben Brown died- Goldwaithe, Mills, Tx.

Thursday Former County Citizen Dies-

Through W.H. Smith of Silver Valley, who was in Goldhwaite at the time, we have
learned of Mr. R.Brown's death, which occurred at Goldthwaite, his home,
Thursday evening, Jun. 3. Mr. Brown Was a former resident of Coleman County,
having lived out in the Silver Valley community for 12 or 14 Years and was known
through the country. Those who knew him, of which there are many, speak in The
very highest terms of him, saying that he was a gentleman of the highest
standard and had no Enemies. He left Coleman county about eight years ago and
moved to Mills County where he Resided at the time of his death. He left
surviving him several children. Mr. B.R. Brown died at his home in the city
Thursday evening at eight o'clock after having Been almost completely paralyzed
for several weeks. Prior to the stroke of apoplexy he was in the Best of health
and was a man of strong frame and active energies. He leaves his wife and two
Daughters. Mr. King of Paint Rock and Mrs. Lowrie of this city and four sons,
Drs. M.L. And Herbert And Mr. J.D. Brown of this city and Mr. G.B. Brown of
Kileen and they were all at his bedside when the End came.

Mr. Brown was onf of the most valued citizens of this town. He served as mayor
of this city several Years and was always recognized as a public spirited and
enterprising man. He was broad minded And liberal hearted and his influence was
always on the side of the right and his place in the Community will not be
easily filled. No man stood higher in the estimations of his fellow citizens and
None had a firmer place in their affections, and when the announcement was made
that he had been Striken with appelexy much anxiety was felt by the people of
the town and hope was entertained for His recovery. The announcement that he was
dead caused sorrow to all who knew him. His grief striken family can be sure
that their neighbors and friends grieve with them and feel that in His death the
community has suffered an irreparable loss.

His funeral yesterday afternoon was largely attended and was in charge of the
Masons, of which Order he had long been a member. Services were held in the
Methodist church and burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery- Goldthwaite Eagle.
