T., Nov. 30: Fire broke out this morning in the CAMBPELL & WINNINGHAM Store, damaging the stock and building about $200. But for the efforts of the people, several buildings would have burned. Mr. Thomas, besides being a successful farmer, is agent for the celebrated Cottage organ. MISS MAE JAMES is in Dallas on business. MRS. NEWTON AYRES of Dallas is visiting the family of J. A. AYRES. MISSES NELLIE / NETTIE and BERTHA MOORE were at Fort Worth. MISS MINNIE SANDERS entertained at her home. The O.F.F. club met with MISS BIRDIE BETTIS last Monday. Home grown, home made maple syrup, the only pure syrup in Bowie. CHARLES STEPHENS. MISS ROOKH DIXON, who just completed the shorthand course at Roberts school, left for Hobart to accept a position as stenographer for an insurance company. Sunset Siftings BUD HASTEY returned home to Pueblo, Colorado. BEE COSTIN was in Bowie on business. REV. DUNN, Presbyterian evangelist, finished a meeting. J. M. WEST attended the carnival at Bowie. JOT BUCHANAN was at Bowie. N. F. STRICKLAND moved into the house he recently bought from G. W. BROWN. DR. SCHOOLFIELD went to Waco to attend the grand lodge. MRS. J. K. WORTHINGTON attended the carnival at Bowie. MISS ADA HUMPHREY was at Bowie. MRS. MORROW of Bushville, Illinois, who spent last winter here with MRS. NORRIS, returned to stay this winter. Mrs. Morrow made many friends here and they are glad to see her again. Mr. and Mrs. THORNTON, parents of Mrs. MORROW, who also stayed here, went to Houston and will return to spend the rest of the winter here. A.M. TRIPLETT and daughter HAPPIE are in Waco. MRS. SCHOOLFIELD and children were at Bowie. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. WEST and MISS FAY went to Fort Worth. F. S. YEAGER and QUINCY STRANGE were in Bowie. DR. J. W. HARVEY went to Fort Worth. N. A. VASSNER moved into one of MRS. DORSEY’S houses recently vacated by N. F. STRICKLAND. Mr. EVANS moved into the WALLACE house. W. C. WHITAKER delivered a fine lot of fruit trees here. MR. GILLEY went to Fort Worth to meet his father and buy goods for his new store. REV. J. M. MORTON was here from Garland. E.A. YOUNG and JOE HEARN Jr. came in from Oklahoma. JOHN LEE was in Decatur. SAM CARTER had business at Bowie. MRS.LATHAM, mother of JAMES BUCHANAN, visited here from Iowa Park. WILL NICHOLS and GEORGE DURHAM were in Bowie. Rev. A. W. YOUNG preached at the Nichols school house. ISAAC HUDGINS moved to town for the purpose of sending his daughter to school. J. P. ENTREKIN was in Bowie. MRS. GEORGE DAVIDSON is sick. PRATER CHAMBERS was in Bowie. R. A. DORSEY had business at Bowie. W. S. GREEN moved in the building vacated by the postoffice. E. T. A. NORTHUM went prospecting in Oklahoma. MRS. ORLEAN WILLIAMS was at Decatur. J. M. GILMORE was here from Slidell and organized a Woodmen Lodge at Smyra with 13 members. J. A. HEARN Sr., who has been here settling the affairs of C. SKINNER, left for his home in Oklahoma. SID CRIN and WALTER ENTREKIN attended the carnival at Bowie. OSCAR JONES went to Fort Worth. A.W. BUSH and family leave to make their home at Duncan, I. T. They are good people to be in any community and we regret very much to lose them. BEN DAVIS was at Bowie. JOHN G. JONES and son NOEL have Esq. EVANS’ residence about completed. MISS ALMA RICHARDSON went home to Salona. WESLEY HARVEY was here from Stoneburg to see his best girl. C. T. BRYSON rented out his place and will move back to the farm. REV. R. W. STANFIELD went to Denver. M. D. HARDIN is on the sick list. Under the management of Professor S. H. SLOVER, MISS ALMA RICHARDSON, and MRS. W. P. COLE, we have the best school we have ever had here. MISS MAGGIE HASTY leaves this week for Knox County to take charge of school which she has not been unable heretofore to do on account of the illness of her mother. MRS. JOE ARMSTRONG expects to make her home in Knox County. W. P. COLE and Mr. GILLEY were at Bowie. Stoneburg Items J. N. HESFORD came in Saturday. W. E. GAMBRELL attended to business here. J. S. P. MCNATT of Queen’s Peak was here. J. B. RICHIE hauled wheat to town. H. A. CHAMBERS, W. T. LARUE, and J. W. JOHNSON transacted business here. MRS. ED BOONE of Blanket, Texas visited her brother Rev. W. W. MARTIN. Mr. and Mrs. RUFUS SHEPARD have a new daughter born Nov. 27. HOGAN YOUNG spent several days at the carnival. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. MARTIN and MISS IVY EAHART of Chico spent Thanksgiving with Rev. W. W. MARTIN and family. J. J. WILFON took in the carnival. MISS MAGGIE YOUNG spent last week with relatives in Bowie. JOHN HAWKINS was here. MISS EFFIE MONKERS is teaching at the Hopewell school. GEORGE WASHINGTON DAVIS was seen on the streets. JOHN CARLILE, a progressive farmer living east of here, was looking after his interests here. MRS. HARDY of Greer County is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. BEASLEY. C. W. MILLS was a visitor here. MR. SMOTHERS, who lives near Ryan, was in town. A.S. JAMESON, HOGAN YOUNG, T. F. GEER and J. J. WILSON took in Bowie. MISS MAGGIE YOUNG returned home from Bowie. AUNT SALLIE SMITH, who visited relatives here, returned to Bowie. E. M. HOBBS, a progressive farmer near here, had business here. MRS. CASH ARNOLD of near Queen’s Peak went to Addington to visit her son. WALTER JOHNSON and H. NICHOLSON left for Groom, Texas. J. T. PRATER was seen on the streets. The hotel building of J. K. MATHEWS has been repaired where it was struck by lightning sometime ago. P. C. SHAW, a progressive farmer two miles south of here, went to Ringgold. W. T. SMALL was in Bowie. E. ARMSTRONG of Harmony neighborhood was in town and subscribed to the Blade. J. H. SANDEFER ordered the Blade sent to him at Portales, New Mexico where he is staying for the benefit of his wife’s health. Dr. SNEED STRONG made a trip to Montague. S. F. HEATH and brother, who is visiting from Missouri, were in town. Newport News JOHN GODSOL, the heavy weight boy of Texas, died at Antelope, age 22 and weight 555 pounds. His father traveled a good deal with him and he was at the Dallas fair many times. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. MCDONALD received word that their daughter MRS. GEORGE A. TALLANT, who lives in Oklahoma, was very ill. MRS. SIMPSON is with her son who is attending school at Bellevue. MISSES OFFIE and LUCRETIA THOMPSON, accompanied by their nephew JOEY went to Vashti to visit their cousin MISS ALTHEA HODGERS. J. J. JOLLEY and IRA WAGONER left here on a hunting and trapping trip through southwest Texas Rev. CHINNIS and family moved last week and are now domiciled at their home in north Newport. O. M. JIMSON went to Vashti. C. E. GILL of Coalgate, I. T. was here looking after his farm near town. MISS STELLA COKER of Vashti is visiting her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. E. BARKER.
