P. SEITZ for several months, left for Dallas where he will locate. W. E. GOLDEN of Forestburg spent several days here. Mr. Golden is one of Montague County’s good teachers. He resigned as principal of the Forestburg school and will locate at Comanche, Indian Territory. SAM DAUBE was down from Ardmore, I. T. L. M. BOWMAN returned from Vineyard where he was several days. J. S. “BUD” EVANS, late of Chico, moved his family to Bowie. Mr. Evans was employed by S. DAUBE & Co. last fall and made friends here. CADIAN LUITWEILER accepted a position as bookkeeper for a firm at Denison and BEN RUSSELL will hold down the position of assistant postmaster here. MISS LOLA LEWIS was the guest of friends at Ryan, I. T. D. Y. LUNN, one of Montague’s progressive men, was in Bowie. MISS KATE HARRIS, who has been in Henrietta, returned to Bowie, six miles east of town. MRS. MCKINNEY arrived to take charge of the millinery department of S. DAUBE & Co. W. H. BEAUCHAMP was here from the county seat. W. H. BIZZELL is handling the nicest celery every brought to Bowie, direct from Michigan. D. H. SIGMON had business at Fort Worth. DR. BROWN, the dentist, guarantees all work. Professor JIM EDWARDS of Dallas was here. “Ramona” is the name of the new perfume at Foreman & Co.’s Drug Store. MRS. C. W. MARTIN and children of Hereford Ranch came to visit the family of JOHN W. DALE. BEN L. LOVELACE came from Decatur to visit homefolks. J. M. GRESHAM and Mrs. IDA RENFRO of Buffalo Springs were married at Henrietta on the 7th. MRS. WILL S. MOORE of Ryan, I. T., J. H. ELKINS of Buffalo Springs, MRS. B. C. THOMPSON of Marlow, I. T., J. G. MILBURN of Newport, W. B. DUNHAM of Postoak were visiting patrons this week of NORVELLE, the photographer. Bedroom suits, hard wood, three pieces from $13 to $15 at R. E. CAMPBELL’S. R. W. HARVEY of Alvord accepted a position with W. C. STRIPLING and moved his family to Bowie. JIM ALSABROOK of Ringgold brought one of those fine buggies and harness from R. W. MCDANIEL and said he was going to quit walking. MISS PHILETUS BURNETT went to Henrietta. J. W. JACKSON & Son are the proprietors of the Bowie Transport Co. and pay prompt attention to all calls. Saint Jo from The Tribune Born to Mr. and Mrs. L. F. EARLE, about two miles west of town, Sept. 11, 1901, a girl. Another carload of casing was unloaded for the CRANDALL oil well. Mr. and Mrs. TURNER LAUDERDALE are rejoicing over the arrival of a tiny young miss who came to their home Sept. 9, 1901. MRS. JOZA DICKSON came from Gainesville to visit relatives then left for Chico. We learn that Rev. and Mrs. N.L. LINEBAUGH, formerly of Saint Jo, now of Duncan, I. T., are the happy parents of a baby boy now about a week old. Senator GEORGE W. SAVAGE and wife came in Friday from Austin and went to their home at Dye Mound. Mr. Savage returned to Austin Monday. Mr. and Mrs. JNO. A. CAGLE left for Lawton to remain for a while. We are requested to state that on account of sickness, Elder A. W. YOUNG’S meeting at Gladys has been postponed. Elm Chapter No. 17 of the Eastern Stare installed officers; JESSE ATCHISON of Gainesville was installing officer and MISS MOLINE MOSS was grand marshal. The following were installed: MRS. P. SLAUGHTER, A. M. DAVIS. Alvord, Wise County from The Budget MISS VIRGIL HAUX left for Weatherford to enter school. CARL and LEE PROCTOR left Thursday for Tehucana, Texas to enter school. Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. J. KRUDWIG on Thursday last week, a ten pound boy. A.Y. LESLIE returned from Quanah and Vernon. He took in the fair at Quanah and reports a lively time. MISS MOLLIE WILLIAMS is recovering from her illness. Dr. JOHN WALKER reports the arrival of a fine boy at the home of JOHN MCELREE last Friday. MINEUS MITCHUM accepted a position with the firm of W. P. WRIGHT. RUFE HARVEY and family left for Bowie where he accepted a position with W. C. STRIPLING. PROF. S. E. PARSON and wife left for Childress to make their home. EMMETT HOLT visited friends at Bowie. Sunset from the Signal News MISS LILLIE RUSS of near Uz, after an extended visit with relatives at Crowell, returned home. REV. CHANDLER of the Bowie Baptist Church preached here. SAM LUNN of Bowie was here on business. Elder JOSEPH CHANEY of Dallas will preach at Lake Valley Sunday and at the Baptist Church in Sunset. AL CARSON is putting on foot a movement to have a big meet of hunters and their packs at Sunset on Christmas Day for a wolf chase. They invited hunters from Montague, Clay, Jack and Wise Counties. Chico, Wise County from the Review T. H. MOORE of Bowie was here. MISS BARBARA HAWKINS returned to Belton where she will graduate from the Baylor Female College. Born last Thursday to MRS. LON PHILLIPS, a fine girl. Manager R. L. MORRIS of the MORRIS Mercantile Co., returned from St. Louis where he purchased a large stock of goods for his fall and winter trade. J. H. SNELL informs us that his favorite house cat got hung in the net wire of the garden fence. A.BRECKENRIDGE and JOHN MOUNT went to Vineyard Monday. They report that ex-sheriff JOE RUCKER is still very low and his death is expected at any time. Montague from the Democrat Mr. RONE and Mr. DORT of Saint Jo were here. BRENT WHALEY and wife visited Saint Jo. MRS. VORA CLARK returned from Bowie. PROF. W. J. LINNEN of Bowie was in town. One of the children of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. MORRIS is quite sick with slow fever. MRS. J. W. SAMPSON and children went to Duncan to join her husband and make their home there. WILSEY ROGERS of Throckmorton County was taken to Grayson County. He is wanted for murder committed at Whitesboro in 1879. Mr. Rogers is at present county attorney of his county. BRUCE BARLOW visited friends at Saint Jo. REV. DUNN is conducting a protracted meeting at the Presbyterian Church. MRS. LEE STOUT returned home from Sherman. G. A. FIKE and wife of Tennessee are visiting the family of GEORGE A. FOOSHEE; he is a prosperous farmer. The young people spent a pleasant evening last Friday in the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. R MODRALL. LYON & MATTHEWS have purchased lots and begun the erection of a lumberyard and hardware house at Hobart, Oklahoma. Mr. HEARD and MRS. LANGFORD, now in their employ here, will have charge of the hardware establishment there.
